Very Decent Monitor - Exceeded Expectations

Purchased this as a affordable baby monitor for use at my house when my niece comes to visit. Didn't want to break the bank and for under $20 (at the time) figured couldn't go wrong, and if it didn't work well or broke no big deal.Well, we've had a few several week visits now where this things gotten a decent amount of mileage, and for our purposes it works great! Obviously we didn't care about having a video feed, just to hear if the baby wakes up/cries. Some quick pros/cons;Pros:- Battery life is good, better than expected. After several weeks of use (say six) finally had to change the batteries (2x AAA).- The receiver also has an AC adaptor for when we're around a power outlet or feel like plugging it in- Range is good. 4,000+ sq ft house and it works from upstairs bedroom down to the (underground) basement, and all throughout the property (haven't tried walking up the street with it, but the range is more than sufficient).- REALLY easy to set up. Plug in the main unit. Put batteries or plug in the receiver. Turn them both on and they automatically pair, done. Idiot proof.Cons:- Audio quality isn't amazing (with caveat, noted below). So, really the only con of this unit for the purposes of having a very affordable audio monitor for the baby is that the audio quality isn't spectacular. That isn't to say that you can't clearly hear when the baby cries, you certainly can, so it's more than adequate. That said, if someone was having a conversation in the room you might not be able to clearly make it out, but that's not really the point of the unit; it's not a walkie-talkie.In summary, this unit far exceeded my expectations. If you're looking for a cheap baby monitor, or really just care about being able to have an audio monitor, you really can't go wrong with this unit. Sure, there are some great HD video monitors out there where you can record videos and cute moments and stuff like that, and one of those may be the unit for you if that's what you're looking for, but for just monitoring a crying baby, this is perfectly adequate.

Great monitor for a great price

Great baby monitor for the price. I wanted something that was super basic and didn’t have WiFi/Bluetooth/cameras. I’ve heard too many weird stories about those being interrupted by others so I wanted something super basic. This is exactly that. Basic. No bells and whistles, but it gets the job done! It has great sound quality and picks up even small noises from a newborn. This is a great monitor for a great price. I highly recommend it

Only one I would recommend to New Parents

There are so many baby monitors I researched for before buying thisSome are astronomical in price but really leaves little benefit for you.Personally, the baby monitor was the Best Buy for us. We simply wanted to be able to be with our little one when he calls out and this was perfect. we kept it mostly plugged in because our rooms were the farthest apart from each other in our apartment. otherwise wherever we were we could hear him.Great Price, Portability when needed, Basic but Necessary function are all there. One other thing is when I make calls, I can make the baby monitor show volume levels instead of sound so I can know without sound.

Great Buy - Recommend over single parent unit for convenience!

We have two of the single parent units and I wish we had found these originally. Haven’t tested the battery life, but the single units drain quickly. Currently none of our units have batteries as we just leave them plugged in. This makes things so easy though if you spend a lot of time in another room of your home you can keep one unit in your bedroom and the other unit in the frequently visited area of your home and easily hear the baby. My home is a ranch-style 2000+ sqft house and we have a monitor in our bedroom and another in the playroom that is just off the living room and kitchen. I have the volume set to the highest in the playroom so I can hear the baby over the sounds of washing dishes. In our bedroom I have it set to the lowest volume because our one month old is very loud and can easily be heard at that level. With our first two babies, they cried so quietly that we had the volume up higher and it was a few weeks before their little voices were this strong. With this unit, you don’t have to constantly unplug your primary bedroom unit and you can use the second one. If you choose not to use the second unit, it does not seem to affect anything to power it off. When we have guests in our playroom, I just unplug that second unit and have no issues.

Parenting Can Be Sexy

Maybe you thought baby monitors would lower your sex appeal? Think again! It's hot to easily monitor your baby with a convenient clip to the belt. Supervising your offspring is finally hip! (Get it?!)
